GCPR Lil' Dribblers Basketball Program
  • Open to Boys and Girls, Grades K-1

Introduce your little ones to the exciting world of basketball with GCPR's Lil' Dribblers Basketball program! Designed specifically for young children in Kindergarten and 1st grade, this six-week program provides a fun and engaging basic introduction to basketball fundamentals.

Program Highlights:
  • Skill Development: Focused instruction on dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense to build essential basketball skills.
  • Age-Appropriate Coaching: Experienced coaches who understand how to teach young children in a supportive and encouraging environment.
  • Team Building: Players will join teams of 6 to 8 peers, fostering teamwork and social interaction.
Program Structure:
  • Week 1: Initial two weeks dedicated to practicing fundamental skills and getting to know the game.
  • Weeks 2-6: Each Saturday includes a 30-minute practice session followed by a 30-minute friendly game to apply what they've learned.
Game Details:
  • Court Size: Games are played on an 8-foot goal to ensure the game is manageable and fun for young players.
  • Friendly Competition: Emphasis on participation and enjoyment rather than competition, encouraging each child’s love for the game.

  • Weekly Practices: Regular practice sessions once a week.
  • Competitive Games: Organized games on Saturdays for players ready to take their skills to the next level.

GCPR Rookie, Junior, and Senior Division Youth Basketball Programs
  • Open to Boys and Girls, Grades 2-8

Introduce your child to the exciting world of basketball through GCPR’s Rookie, Junior, and Senior Division Youth Basketball Programs. These programs are designed to teach the basic fundamentals of basketball in a fun, supportive environment that emphasizes sportsmanship and teamwork.

Division Breakdown:
  • Rookie Division (Grades 2-3): Open to boys and girls, this division focuses on building foundational basketball skills.
  • Junior Division (Grades 4-5): Also open to boys and girls, this division continues skill development while introducing more advanced concepts.
  • Senior Division Boys (Grades 6-8): Exclusively for boys, this division offers a more competitive environment, perfect for those ready to take their game to the next level.
  • Senior Division Girls (Grades 6-8): Exclusively for girls, this division will partner with Madison County Parks & Recreation Authority for Saturday games.  
Program Highlights:
  • Skill Development: Each division emphasizes the core skills of basketball, including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense.
  • Weekly Practices: Teams will practice once a week at local schools throughout Greene County, starting the week of January 3rd.
  • Weekend Games: Participants will play games on weekends, giving them the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in practice.
  • End-of-Season Tournament: The season concludes with a single-elimination tournament to crown a division champion, adding an exciting competitive element to the program.

  • Roster Requests: Requests are only accommodated for siblings, family members of the same household, and Head/Assistant coaches’ participants.
